Newark, NJ – Inspired by
the upscale mountain town of Highlands in North Carolina, Thibaut has
created “Highlands,” a
rustic, yet refined American-style collection focusing on nature and
the woods. Wallpaper and fabric designs cater to owners of properties
and vacation homes in mountainous and woodland areas.
The “Highlands” pattern
itself is a reproduction of a large-scale Jacobean-style document with
forest birds, stylized flowers, dragonflies, butterflies, large leaves
and twisting branches. Other key designs include “Montana,” a
rich arabesque panel design with quail, deer, dogs, and squirrels posed
against a fretwork of branches and twigs; and “Foliage,” a
large-scale leaf design featuring flora from maple and elm trees, hostas,
caladiums, and other exotic plants. The grainy, textural artwork and
color in this design create a soft, subtle look resembling woven fabric.
“Ferns,” another unique design, shows delicate woodland
ferns drawn in a botanical fashion, while “Birdwatcher,” another
large-scale light and open pattern, features twig-framed portraits
of flowers—dogwood, fuchsia, and magnolia—and birds—blue-jays,
cedar waxwings, robins, blue-headed vireos, and tufted titmice.
The collection also includes an etched toile design with ships and
seafaring vignettes, and an elegant novelty pattern with antique-style
conservatories housing beautiful plants and birds. Other designs include
branching fruit patterns; medium-scale geometric prints with snowflake-like
stars and bundled wheat; and trellis designs with woodsy overtones.
Designs are screen- and hand-printed, and the color palette focuses
on the spice group with ginger, mustard, sage, and paprika, as well
as navy, pine, coffee, moss, lichen green, and slate.
