The designs, which are based on historic documents, offer a classic French country look with pastoral imagery, stylized floral patterns, gingham plaids, and delicate floral bouquets—but also include fun, whimsical novelty patterns, such as colorized etchings of hot air balloons and painterly bird nests intertwined with flowering vines. Patterns range from light and delicate to rich and robust. Bolder designs include the collection’s “Provence” pattern, featuring roosters and ducks encircled with dense foliage; “Pinot Noir,” an ornate arabesque panel design; and a handsome toile called “Avignon,” featuring sportsmen on a hunting expedition through rustic mountain terrain.
