Newark, NJ – Thibaut has introduced
a new, upscale collection of wallcoverings and fabrics,
“Great Estates,” which reflects on the varied styles of American
historic homes. The designs feature classic motifs, but also incorporate
cultural influences from distant lands.
Some of the more striking designs in the collection
include “Lampas,” an interpretation of a large-scale, ornate 16th
century damask fabric, befitting for a Greek Revival period home; “Vauxhall,” capturing
the Queen Anne style, with lilies of the valley, hydrangeas, and rhododendrons; “Wash
Day,” with matter-of-fact scenes and a vertical layout reflecting the
straightforward fashion of the Federal Style; “Marco Polo,” a chinoiserie
based on renderings created by Jean Baptiste Pillement in the 1700’s; "Naples," suited
for an Italianate home, with botanical drawings of flowers such as nasturtium
and peonies, posed alongside depictions of the countryside in which they were
grown; “Aviary” a branching Tree of Life design suited for a Country
Manor; and “Adelaide Damask ,” a Renaissance Revival design with a subtle
textured background effect.
The collection features a broad color palette
including original document colors and soft tones of gold, wheat, slate, brick,
and spruce, as well as bright, modern color schemes including coral, hot pink,
and grass green.
The Great Estates collection, as well as other Thibaut books, are available through interior
designers and fine wallcovering and decorating stores. For the names of local dealers,
