Newark, NJ – Thibaut introduces “Palladio,” a Mediterranean style collection that captures the “Old World” essence of Italian and Spanish villas of the 16th century. The collection was named after Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, whose grand and innovative country villas for the nobility of Venice left a profound influence on Western architecture.
The large-scale designs of Palladio incorporate granite, marble, fresco, and aged fabric textures. A subdued, earthy color palette reflects on the serenity of the warm-climate Aegean region. The overall look is one that merges elegance with relaxed beauty.
Key designs include “Palermo,” a rich Tuscan floral pattern created with stylized and primitive shapes; and “Livorna,” a scrolling floral design in which leaves take the shape of stylized falcons and wolves. “Palermo” is set against a worn linen-textured background, while “Livorna” has a more aged, distressed fabric look throughout the design. The designs come in rich colorways such as chestnut, topaz, persimmon, khaki, scarlet, charcoal, blue-gray, and sunbaked clay.
“Bella” is a graceful and interlacing floral arabesque with a textured look that resembles aged silk. The design appears on soft-colored grounds including cream, ice blue, and terra cotta. “Julius” is a branching vertical design with butterflies and tiny blossoming flowers. The design occurs on a mottled, layered background mimicking a fresco painting. Colorways include topaz, clay with metallic gold undertones, and an aged green copper patina.
Other designs include “DiClemente,” a large-scale scrolling pattern with a marbelized finish; “Tuscany,” a striped pattern with intricate scrollwork taking on the look of carved granite; “Milo,” a damask with acanthus leaves and a travertine finish; and “Francesco,” a grand-scale Fleur de lis pattern on a fresco background. These architectural designs come in colorways that coordinate with other collection designs, and some incorporate metallics that simulate a gold-leaf look.
Fabrics are available for the Palermo, Livorna and Bella designs. The collection also features “Orbatello,” a floral-like fabric composed with stylized organic shapes. The design is based on an antique textile and has a primitive look. Colorways match other designs in the collection, and the fabric comes in a heavy linen-cotton blend.
