Newark, NJ – Thibaut’s new “Tone
on Tone Resource, Vol. II” is a compilation
of fresh, en vogue wallpaper designs that incorporate tactile textures, shimmering
metallics, and matt-painted tonal effects. Subtle color and simplistic
shapes in the designs work with both traditional as well as modern home décor,
and make a fashionable, sophisticated statement without being overpowering. The
patterns serve as a unifying backdrop and let the décor of the room
take center stage.
There are
numerous designs in this collection that present a variety of colors, styles,
and techniques. “Gladstone,” based on an historic document,
is an all-over pattern of simple shapes softened with texture that mimics a
wood carving. Colors include tan over a metallic teal ground, and metallic
brown over matt brown. Simplified shapes can also be found in “India,” a
vine-like pattern with a mottled texture. Notable colors for this design
include pumpkin and coffee bean. The latter has a look resembling embossed
leather.
A trend-setting
design in this collection is “Mazu,” a large-scale branching pattern
with medallion-like flowers. The shapes are based on a kimono fabric,
giving the overall design an Asian, organic feel. Striking color combinations
include black and gold, aqua and taupe, and red, black and brown. Metallic
highlights are found in the leaves and blossoms of each colorway. Another
unique design, “Sabrina,” has a flock effect created by puffing
the ink with
air to yield a textural feel. The design features stylized leaves and
flowers on trailing vines. It appears in an eye-catching combination
of copper patina with copper overtones, icy blue and silver, and brick and
gold.
“Kiawah,” another
pattern with leaves and vines, is a free-flowing, transitional design with
a watercolor-like texture. Colors include mint green and a combination
of icy blue and silver. A watercolor texture can also be found in “Big
Leaf,” a large-scale design with palm fronds. The fronds have a
sketched, painterly look and the design appears in soft colors like melon,
aqua, and light goldenrod. “Prado,” an embossed design with
an antique crackle effect, takes on a fresco appearance. The design is
a dense yet delicate presentation of fern leaves and vines, and has a soothing
color palette that includes lavender, sage, and taupe.
Scrolling
shapes and detailed texture provide “Paisley
Damask” with a classy
yet retro look. The paisley design incorporates simplified shapes and
a pearlescent crosshatch overlay, which gives depth to the design. Burnt
orange and mahogany are two of the more striking colorways for this pattern. Architectural
scrollwork can also be found in “Meredith,” an arabesque design
with a warm Tuscan look. This pattern is featured in a copper patina
and an icy blue. As with other designs in the collection, hints of metallic
silver, gold, or copper can be found in either the foreground or background.
Taken
from the Arts and Crafts period, “Heidelberg” is a dense pattern with
stylized flowers and leaves. The design has a strie texture overlay,
and it appears in more traditional colors like mahogany, steel blue, sage,
and clay, as well as fresh, updated hues of sunshine yellow and aqua. “Amazon,” a
large-scale damask, simulates a fabric document. Stately peacocks are
woven into the scroll of the damask. Some of the color combinations have
metallic highlights, such as green and eggplant, and copper and rust.
