Your wallcovering is designed to provide years of satisfaction when installed properly. Before hanging, inspect all rolls to confirm the pattern, color, item number, and run number match your order. Install only under the lighting and room conditions in which the space will normally be used.
While installation requirements vary by substrate, these are general best practices to follow for standard wallpaper installations. It is recommended to always consult with a professional wallpaper hanger before installation.
Ensure the walls are smooth, clean, dry, and properly primed. Remove old wallcovering and adhesive, repair cracks, sand glossy surfaces, and treat any mold or mildew issues prior to installation.
Use a heavy-duty clear premixed vinyl adhesive without dilution. Hang the first strip using a plumb line, carefully matching the pattern without overlapping seams. Allow strips to book for 3–5 minutes before hanging, then smooth firmly to remove air pockets and excess adhesive. Trim carefully with a sharp razor blade, changing blades often.
Important: After hanging the first 2–3 strips, inspect the installation carefully. If you notice any defects, color variation, or pattern concerns, stop installation immediately and contact Thibaut client experience.
For cleaning standard wallpaper, wipe gently with a warm, mild soap solution. Stronger detergents may be used for tougher stains after testing in an inconspicuous area. Avoid abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or hard scrubbers.
Natural wallcoverings may panel to some extent, and this is not a defect but a phenomenon of the product. If you have a bathroom with a shower or tub that doesn’t remove humidity well, or a wall close to a toilet in a half bath, the installation of natural grasscloth wallcoverings should be avoided.
